A Morning Walk

Each morning before or after breakfast I try to go walking around our village (moshav). I have two routes I enjoy. The locals here describe the routes as the"old" moshav and the "new" moshav. This morning I decided to walk the "old" moshav and brought my camera along to capture some photos to share!
For those of you who have just started reading our  blog, we live in a small Yemenite village which consist of about 100 families along side the Jezreel Valley in northern Israel. Follow along with the pictures to see more of our moshav!

My pathway through the moshav:

Our mailbox/post office:

Childrens daycare/elementary school for the moshav
A little bit of fall color, but nothing compares to the Great Smoky Mountains in the fall! Oh how I missed your color this year NC!
Cactus plants are all around, careful not to get to close!
Vegetation around the moshav in November:

Clothing lines are commonly used in the moshav outside or under patios

Olive trees are in abundance not only here but all over Israel!
So here is where the fun comes in- About twice a week during my walks I secretly pick fruit from our neighbors tress :) Not sure If I'm really suppose to, but normally what doesn't get picked falls on the ground. So I think it's okay- I only take a few! This morning I got a few clementines and oranges.

Self timer in the street!
Blueberries...One of my favorite!!! Anxious to pick them soon :)
Date trees are also in abundance here. Our neighbor will occasionally bring us a BIG plate of "sweet" dates and walnuts!
Kids from the school on there daily walk
My favorite yard in the moshav
Bus stops and the synagogue for the Yemenite Jews:

 Mini Market in the moshav:
Announcements, events, & news posted on a bulletin board outside the mini market. I can't read any of it...

 Love those fruits and veggies!!!

Yes we have pumpkin! Real pumpkin all year around!

Morning was a little chilly but quickly warmed up into the mid 70s :)

Tel Aviv Port

Tel Aviv is Israel’s most lively and cosmopolitan city in the entire country.  The locals consider it there own little NYC, in that it has a booming night life, a lot of traffic, and bustling energy at all hours.  The majority of the streets are lined with large palm trees and other tropical vegetation, which gives it a true “beach town” feel.  Though not as historic or unique as Jerusalem Tel Aviv has much to offer and really is a fascinating city.

Thomas and I were already in Tel-Aviv sometime last week for an appointment when we decided to head to the beach as the sun was near setting. We drove to the northern end of the shoreline and parked right outside the beautiful boardwalk and market that borders Tel Aviv’s port. Along the boardwalk were once abandoned warehouses that have now been transformed into upscale restaurants, cafes, and shops. Our evening at the Tel Aviv port consisted of snapping sunset pictures, walking the boardwalk, window shopping, eating a delightful seafood meal, and of course treating our selves to some ice cream all along on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea!

 Restaurants surrounding the port
Market at the end of the boardwalk: Fresh produce, meat/poultry, restaurants, and much more!

Outdoor dinning in November: Thomas had a BIG JUICY hamburger with chips (what we call fries) and I had Dennis (a local fish) with yummy glazed sweet potatoes and salad!
